7 Tips and Tricks for Writing A Brilliant College Essay Example

  • Nothing can be better than placing your own experience in the essay. Write about something that left an indelible impression in your life and is of high importance to you. This can be a book, a person or any memorable experience or incident- something that has impacted your life greatly.
  • Do not just recount and recall but try reflecting them. Anyone can describe their most memorable moment in life or something horrifying they face, but college essays are more than just descriptions. Good college essay examples appeal to the five senses of the readers and make them how you felt during that incident or what were the things that you learned from the experience. You also have to mention how the incident made a mark in your life and the ways it has changed you as a person.
  • Try to inculcate pun in your writing. The best way you can write an A+ grade essay is by making the professor laugh upon reading your essay. But at the same time, your consideration of the term ‘funny’ might be quite different tna of the professor. You have to be very cautious against off colour things, limericks and one liner.
  • Try finishing off writing the essay as early as possible. This will leave with an ample time for revisions. Try setting it aside for a few days and read several times. Place yourself in the shoes of the professor and assess the essay by yourself- judge whether it is interesting enough to catch the attention of the audience, are the various ideas in your flow logically, is it revealing something about the student and written in their own voices or not.
  • Effective college essay examples strictly avoid any and every form of repetition. This is not your resume where you will be placing your life achievements. That will already be done in the application procedure and hence do not repeat and boast about yourself.
  • Stick to the topic. Never deviate from what you are being asked to write on. Do not write anything that is not in sync with the essay topics.
  • Brilliant college essay examples are proofread several times. At times, it becomes impossible for you to point out your mistakes and thus fail to correct the mistakes in the essay. Ask any of your acquaintances to proofread your essay and chalk out the mistakes that would help you to make the essay better and improve your chances of getting admitted into a good college.

Frustration at The Airport

Introduction:

Patience has never been such a crude examiner to me. The last three hours have been quite hard for me as I am trying to reach the airport badly. This has made me a lot anxious. All I want is to get to the airport, take the flight, reach home and hug my mother after 5 long years.

Body:

(the following points have to be expanded and added to the in different paragraphs with valid reasons and justifications)

  • When I was getting out of my home, I checked the traffic on the road through Google Maps. It seemed to be good with low traffic and just 20 minutes to reach the airport from my apartment.
  • I locked up my apartment, called a cab, boarded it and was heading towards the airport.
  • All of a sudden, a loud noise was heard from the forward direction. It was as if a building had crashed and fell off. Then we, the driver and I, were able to see some smoke. That was surely the vehicle smoke. My driver went out to check what was wrong with the matter.
  • It was an accident- a car collided with a bus. The bus driver suddenly got a heart attack and lost control of his bus. It went and collided with a car. The bus driver died and the car’s driver was seriously injured. The car was completely demolished.
  • The entire road was blocked and it was one of the most important roadway in the city and the only road that connected to the airport. But the traffic police and the volunteers assured us that it will be cleared within 30 minutes.
  • I was not that tense at that time. I got out early and still had 4 hours in hand.
  • There was a lot of hustle and bustle on the streets. I kept waiting and waiting for hours. It was almost 2.5 hours and still the car did not move an inch.
  • Finally after more than 3 hours, my car started to move and finally I reached the airport.
  • The check-in process got over and it was just 30 minutes for my flight to take off.
  • Tears rolled down my eyes. I thought I would miss the flight.
  • Suddenly I saw one of my friends at the airport. He was an airport official. I explained to him the entire thing that I faced while coming to the airport.
  • He was an angel for me that day. He convinced the flight authorities and reopened the check in procedure for me. I thanked him and went to board my flight.
  • After taking the seat, I got a deep respite.
  • This was one of the most memorable incidents for me.

Conclusion:

“An angel in disguise”- people often used to say that is true but I never believed it until my last visit to the airport. My friend was my saviour that day and I am greatly thankful to him. I am looking forward to repaying his help with anything that I can do for him. Hence what can be said from this experience is that- ‘Do good and good will come to you’.
